Blanchett's surprise appearance was a live embodiment of her starring role in the track's music video, where she rocked a vibrant yellow suit, donning sunglasses and red headphones, while effortlessly grooving to her own rhythm to the infectious beats of Sparks' music.

The announcement of Blanchett's participation came as a delightful surprise from lead singer Russell Mael. Speaking to the exhilarated audience on that fateful Friday, Mael shared, "Hopefully, as many of you know, we have a brand new album that just came out a couple of weeks ago. We have a super special treat tonight." The crowd's anticipation reached a fever pitch as the enigmatic performer prepared to grace the stage.

The unexpected collaboration between the brother duo and the Oscar-winning actress unfolded against a backdrop of serendipitous encounters. Sparks, supporting their documentary "The Sparks Brothers" and the feature film "Annette," coincidentally crossed paths with Blanchett during the film festival circuit. Russell Mael divulged the secret recipe for procuring the presence of the illustrious Cate Blanchett in their music video, stating to Far Out, "If you want Cate Blanchett in your video, here's how you do it: win a César award for your film 'Annette,' attend the ceremony in Paris, where Cate Blanchett is also present to receive a lifetime achievement award." Mael continued, "Have a woman who resembles Cate Blanchett knock on the dressing room door, claiming to be a lifelong fan of Sparks. Ask her if she'd be willing to appear in your video. Incredibly, she said yes. 'Do whatever you want,' we told her. And she delivered beyond our wildest dreams."

In conversations with Variety, the Mael brothers unveiled the genuine astonishment they experienced upon hearing Blanchett's reaction to the song. "'When she first heard [the song], she said, 'I'm laughing and I'm crying at the same time,' and I thought that was a really apt comment about this song," they revealed. Initially, they had no inkling that Blanchett would indulge in the art of dance. Their request was simply for her to make a cameo appearance in the video. However, Blanchett's response was nothing short of astonishing. "Come and stand in our video," they suggested, "that would've been fine too." But Blanchett had other plans, showcasing her uninhibited spirit and interpreting the music through the language of dance.

As the final chords of the captivating performance reverberated through the festival grounds, it became evident that Glastonbury had borne witness to a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration, an ethereal union of talent, and a testament to the boundless creative energy that fuels the arts. Cate Blanchett's radiant presence and captivating dance moves left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all those lucky enough to be in the crowd that unforgettable night.
